Our Story.
Petridis Architects came into existence on March 5 1983. George Petridis began the practice in his parent’s rumpus room. It was a Saturday, so not much time was spent working that first day: a drawing board was set up, tracing paper was stacked, and 3 rotring pens, a .25, .35 and .5 were set along the bottom of the board. It was also Election Day for Australia, the day Bob Hawke was voted into Office.
The practice’s early work was marked by the design of large new houses for young new couples, generally in the middle and outer suburbs. It then transitioned to a diverse swag of work for various minority community groups: elderly person’s hostels, childcare centres, churches and temples of worship. It then moved to residential developments of medium-and-high-density, ie., townhouses and apartments, and this is what the practice became known for, and has specialised in, for the last 25-odd years.
Petridis Architects’ clients are the builders and developers who create the townhouse and apartment developments, and the residents who will then live in the completed products. With regard the builders and developers, we strive to make the best advantage of given sites and their natural attributes, and of the planning and building regulations pertaining to those sites. With regard the resident end-users, we strive to provide spacious, sun-and-light filled, enjoyable, happy and memorable environments.
